Spirit of Life Fellowship Statement of Faith
1. The Bible: We believe the Bible to be God’s Holy Word, consisting of the 66 books of the Old and
New Testaments, that it is the sole basis of beliefs and authority for sound doctrine. We believe that it
was uniquely, verbally, and fully inspired by the Holy Spirit and it to be infallible, inerrant in the original
manuscripts.
2. God: We believe there is one true and living God, eternally existing in three Persons- Father, Son
and Holy Spirit. We believe that all things were created by Him and for Him.
Gen. 1:1, Deu.6:4, Isa. 45:21-22, Matt 28:19, John 1:3, Col.1:16
3. Jesus: We believe that God the Son became a human being in the person of Jesus Christ. He was
conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, fully God fully Man and to be The Christ and He lived
a sinless life [for He was without sin], died a substitutionary death for all mankind, was raised bodily from
the dead the third day, ascended into heaven, is seated at the right hand of God the Father making
intercession on behalf all believers and there is no other name in which we must be saved.
John 1:1-3, John 1:14, Matt. 1:18,21, 2 Cor. 5:21, 1 Pet 3:18, 1 Cor. 15:3-4, Heb. 10:12, 1 Tim. 2:5, Acts 4:12
4. Holy Spirit: We believe that God the Holy Spirit was sent by the Father and the Son by promise into
this world to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgement. We believe the Holy Spirit
regenerates, indwells, and seals believers upon their believing faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and that He
empowers and equips believers with His fruits and gifts to live successfully as witnesses and disciples of
our Lord Jesus Christ.
John 16:8-11, Acts 1:7-8, Eph. 4:30, Gal. 5:22-23, 1 Cor.1:7, 1 Cor. 12:4-11, James 5:13-14
5. Man: We believe that Adam and Eve were originally created sinless in the image of God. By
disobeying God, they sinned and caused all people to fall and inherit a sinful nature. As the result of that
act all people are sinners by nature and by choice. They are spiritually dead and separated from God and
His fellowship, needing redemption.
Gen. 1:26-28, Ro. 3:23, Ro. 6:23
6. Salvation: We believe salvation is a gift from God provided by His grace through faith and is based
entirely on the work of Christ at the cross. Those who repent of sin and believe in Jesus as Savior are
born again in spirit [regenerated] by the Holy Spirit to become a child of God inheriting eternal life and
should continue to grow to be Christ like.
John 3:16, Ro.10:9-10, Eph.2:8-9, Col.1:12-14, 2 Pet.3:18
7. Church: We believe the church is the Body of Christ and that Jesus Christ Himself is the Head. The
church is composed of true believers, a fellowship of redeemed disciples of Jesus Christ. Called out of all
tribes, tongues and nations and are to be Christ’s Ambassadors on earth. We believe that each local
congregation of believers is an expression of that universal church.
Eph. 4:4, 1 Cor. 12:12-13, Acts 2:41-42,47, Rev. 5:9
8. Baptism: We believe that this is one of the two New Testament Sacraments. A follower of Jesus
Christ should be water baptized as the Lord commanded following their repentance and confession of
faith in the Lord Jesus. Water baptism by submersion signifies burial with Christ and resurrection to a new
life, that it is an outward sign of an inward change of heart.
9. The Lord’s Supper: We believe this is the second Sacrament of the New Testament. That all
followers of Jesus Christ can participate in the Lord’s Supper as often as they would, both privately and
corporately, as led by the Holy Spirit to be observed, as a Memorial in remembrance until the return of
Christ.
Matt.26:26-28, 1 Cor. 11:23-26
10. Resurrection: We believe in the bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ and all dead both just and the
un-just.
2 Tim 4:1, 1 Cor 15: 51-53, 1 Thess.4:13-17, Rev 20:4-15
11. Marriage: We believe that Marriage is sacred and holy unto God. The Word of God on marriage is
the basis for our faith and practice. God created marriage to be a covenant between one biological man
and one biological woman that makes them one. The marriage covenant requires the married man and
woman to be faithful, loving, helpful to each other, as long as they both shall live. The Church observes
the wedding ceremony as holy and unto God.
12. The Return of Jesus Christ: We believe Jesus Christ is going to return to this earth as He
promised.
Matt.24:30, John 14:3, 1 Thess.4: 16, 2 Thess. 1:7, Rev.1:7
This statement of faith does not exhaust the extent of our
beliefs. The Bible itself, as the inspired and infallible Word of God that
speaks with final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper
conduct of mankind, is the sole and final source of all that we believe,
for purposes of Spirit of Life Fellowship’s faith, doctrine, and practice.
